"Innovation" has been a popular chalkboard word in recent years, and author Elaine Dundon has been a big part of that message. She was a professor of "innovation management" at the University of Toronto and is the chief strategist of The Innovation Group Consulting. Her email even goes to "innovationguru.com."

Don't hold that against her. Dundon has fashioned a fine "big picture" book that doles out gobs of useful advice on what could be a highly nebulous topic. The book is organized around three major principles--the seeds of creative thinking, the seeds of strategic thinking and the seeds of transformational thinking. Each, she writes, require a different set of skills and ways of looking at change.
