A "see-through-walls" radar device developed by a British firm is touted as a valuable aid to law enforcement, rescue and military personnel.

Designed by Cambridge Consultants Ltd.--the sensor can help find victims trapped in buildings, assist law enforcement in locating suspects and give military personnel an edge in spotting terrorists in urban warfare, the company said.

Positioned against a wall--or even some meters away--the device transmits low-frequency radar pulses that pass through building materials up to 25 cm thick, detecting objects and movement inside...
