Sanctions may also be assessed under Rule 55.03. The provisions of Rule 55.03(b)(1) include that any attorney or party who files a document with a court certifies that the claim “is not presented or maintained for any improper purpose, such as to harass or to cause unnecessary delay or needless increase in the cost of litigation” and is warranted “by existing law or by a nonfrivolous argument for the extension, modification, or reversal of existing law . . . .” Rule 55.03(b)(2).
