Section 8 Rights DuringDetention

Rule 127.10 sets forth, in detail, the following rights of a juvenile during detention:

1. The juvenile has the right to immediately telephone the juvenile’s custodian and counsel.

2. The juvenile has the right to utilize the telephone at reasonable times thereafter to contact the juvenile’s attorney or custodian.

3. Immediately after detention, the custodian and the attorney may visit the juvenile at any time. After the first visit, counsel may visit at any reasonable time, but the custodian’s visits will be limited to visiting hours at the detention facility.

4. The juvenile has the right to refuse to see the juvenile’s custodian during detention.
