D. (§8.7) Principals
As discussed in §8.5 above, the Supreme Court of Missouri suggested in dicta that a school principal does not enjoy official immunity from suit. Lehmen v. Wansing, 624 S.W.2d 1, 2, n.2 (Mo. banc 1981). Regardless, because the law on this issue remains unsettled, a principal should assume a duty to use reasonable care for the safety of pupils in school.
As chief administrator of the building, the principal should take care to see that plans have been made for proper student supervision...
