Coverage provided under a medical malpractice liability policy is generally divided into either individual (Part A) or partnership/association/corporation (Part B) coverage, which may be purchased individually or jointly.

The standard Part A provides coverage for:

· a sum of money the insured may become legally obligated to pay as damages

· caused by a medical incident

· that occurred after the retroactive date,

· while the insured holds a valid and registered license,

· for which a claim is made against the insured and

· is reported to the insurer,

· during the policy period,
