Section 8.2 Claims-Made Policy

The key to understanding a claims-made policy is that coverage is not triggered at the time of the alleged occurrence. Instead, coverage is triggered at the time the claim is made and reported to the carrier. This form of coverage requires that all claims be reported to the insurance company while the insured’s policy with the insurance company is still in effect. See Ins. Placements, Inc. v. Utica Mut. Ins. Co., 917 S.W.2d 592 (Mo. App. E.D. 1996).
