D. (§8.19) Sources of Exhibits

It is clear that the most fruitful sources of exhibits and demonstrative evidence are the events and objects that give rise to the litigation. If the event is newsworthy, it may be productive to check with newspapers and television stations for possible photographs or films. Perhaps the most productive source of exhibits beyond the more obvious ones is the expert witness who, prompted for assistance, is asked to help develop graphic ways to convey important ideas or concepts to the trier of fact.
