F. (§8.12) Miscellaneous Provisions

Commitment to Parenting Plan: Recognizing the needs of the children for a continuing relationship with each parent, both parents will use their best efforts to foster the respect, love, and affection of the children toward each other and will cooperate fully in implementing a relationship with the children that will give them a maximum feeling of security. Neither Parent B nor Parent A will take any action that will demean the other. They will set aside any issues and feelings of mutual antipathy and marital discord towards each other for the sake of cooperating equally in the rearing of the children.

Good Faith and Children’s Best Interest: The parents acknowledge that good faith and good will are essential components of their parenting plan. Each must extend some latitude toward the understanding of each other, when, for some reasons, the other may not be able to comply with some specific activity at a prearranged or expected time. At times, one parent should “turn the other cheek” and grant the other parent some leeway without “keeping tabs” on the number of times this is done. Likewise, the other parent should not take this good will for granted nor rely on it but rather express appreciation for the exercise of good will and take an affirmative step to acknowledge it. Acts of good will should be given for the sake of the act itself, for the child, and not with an expectation of a return favor. ________ and ________ deserve no less, and if Parent B and Parent A are unable to deal with each other in good faith through good will, they may harm their children in subtle ways that may not manifest themselves for years to come. The parties pledge not to do that.
