A. (§7.11) Introductory Material

Old forms die hard, and introductory material is largely a matter of personal preference. The form here lacks the traditional “whereas” and “witnesseth,” suggesting instead a modern version that simply spells out, for nonlawyers, what is happening. Counsel’s preference will also determine whether the parties are referred to as:

“Wife” and “Husband”;

“Petitioner” and “Respondent”; or

by the parties’ first names.
