A. (§7.11) General Requirements

No claim can be filed unless a probate estate has been opened. The requirements for filing a claim in Missouri are set forth in § 473.380, RSMo 2000. Accordingly, a claim, except as provided in § 473.370, RSMo 2000, for other than costs and expenses of administration must:

be in writing;

state the nature and amount, if ascertainable; and

be signed by the claimant or a representative of the claimant who has knowledge of the facts.
