Ordinarily, the eligible employee must provide thirty-days notice for foreseeable leave. 29 U.S.C.§ 2612(e). Failure to provide timely notice for foreseeable leave may result in a delay of the requested leave. 29 C.F.R. §§ 825.304(b) and 825.312(a).

If leave is not foreseeable, the employee must give notice as soon as possible. This notice should be given within two working days after the employee discovers the need for leave, except in extraordinary circumstances when such notice is not feasible. 29...
