2. (§6.22) Materials, Methods, and Types of Construction

Building regulations, particularly building and other construction codes, may require that specific types of materials be used in particular aspects of the construction. These regulations are typically prescriptive, as opposed to performance-based, and typically provide less flexibility to the owners, contractors, and design professionals in administering the construction project.
