A. (§6.2) Generally

Building regulations are performance and prescriptive requirements for building construction that are established by the state legislature or, more commonly, by local boards, commissions, or other municipal legislative bodies to promote and protect the public health, safety, and general welfare. Although some building regulations can be found in the state’s statutes, most appear in municipal codes adopted and enacted by county or city governments through local ordinances.
