2. (§6.19) Planned Districts
One type of district frequently applied by a “floating zone” is a planned development district. A planned district may include residential, commercial, or industrial uses. Under this procedure, the legislative body approves a particular use or development for the petitioner’s property and tailors the regulations and conditions to that project, rather than enacting an amendment that will permit a variety of uses subject only to the general regulations of the traditional zoning district.
