D. (§6.15) Construction Standards

Construction standards supplement building regulations by prescribing a level of acceptability or an approved model to be used in building construction as a basis for comparison. Contractors, design professionals, code enforcement officials, and others, both inside and outside of government, rely on construction standards, among other things, to help determine compliance with building regulations. There are a number of different types of standards, including:

· “test standards,” which prescribe test methods and the minimum acceptable results;

· “ratings standards,” which establish a method of measurement to ensure that all similar products can be compared on the same basis; and
