In a hit-and-run situation, § 379.203.1, RSMo 2000, provides coverage under the uninsured motorist provisions of the policy even though the identity of the operator or owner of the uninsured motor vehicle cannot be established “because such owner or operator and the motor vehicle departed the scene of the occurrence . . . .” This coverage also exists “whether or not physical contact was made between the uninsured motor vehicle and the insured or the insured’s motor vehicle.” The fleeing unidentified...
