During an inspection, a compliance officer may seek to interview certain employees at the worksite. If the inspection is in response to a fatality, injury, or complaint, the compliance officer will normally seek to interview one or more employees who work in the area that pertains to the injury or complaint.

OSHA has the right to “question privately” any employer, owner, operator, agent, or employee. 29 U.S.C. § 657(a)(2).
