Section 5 Public Hearing

The governing body must hold a public hearing between 14 and 60 days after receipt of the petition or request and give at least 7 days' notice by publication in a newspaper of general circulation qualified to publish legal matters located within the boundaries of the city. Section 71.012.2(1), RSMo Supp. 2010. "If no such newspaper exists . . ., then the notice shall be published in the qualified newspaper nearest the petitioned city . . . ." Id.
