Although dual jurisdiction under § 211.073, RSMo 2000, is discussed in Chapter 10 of this deskbook, it should also be briefly mentioned here. Section 211.073 allows the juvenile court to invoke dual jurisdiction of the Criminal Code, Chapters 556 et seq., RSMo, and the Juvenile Code, Chapter 211, RSMo, simultaneously when an offender under the age of 17 years has been transferred to an adult criminal court under § 211.071, RSMo Supp. 2010, and the prosecution has resulted in a guilty plea or conviction.

Under § 211.073, once the juvenile court has invoked dual jurisdiction, it can impose a juvenile disposition under the juvenile statutes and simultaneously impose an adult criminal sentence.
