2. (§5.22) Criminal Cases

In criminal appeals, if the trial court determines that the defendant is indigent or is unable to pay the costs of the transcript to perfect the appeal, the trial court must order the court reporter to furnish the original and two copies of the transcript so that the defendant can perfect the appeal.
