In civil and criminal cases, the appellant must prepare and file the record on appeal. Rules 30.04(c), 81.12(c). In civil cases, within ten days after the notice of appeal is filed, the appellant must order the transcript, in writing, from the court reporter or from the clerk of the trial court if the proceedings were recorded by electronic sound recording.
