Nearly every personal auto policy has coverages that are paid, if applicable, in addition to the base policy limits. Such things as defense costs, attorney fees, and judgment interest are routinely paid under these additional coverages. It is, however, important to note that these coverages are not mandated by the Motor Vehicle Financial Responsibility Law (MVFRL), Chapter 303, RSMo, and, thus, policy exclusions that are rendered partially invalid by the MVFRL are entirely valid as to all policy provisions not mandated by that statute or an applicable regulation.
