The Shelter policy, like most policies, provides coverage to most groups of insureds in autos other than the auto shown in the policy declarations if those autos are not owned by the insureds and are not furnished or made available for their regular and frequent use. The purpose of the regular and frequent use exception is to prevent the insured from covering two or more autos with one policy by simply “borrowing” the other vehicles on a regular and frequent basis. Shelter defines a non-owned auto as follows:

Non-owned auto means any auto other than

(a) the described auto, or

(b) an auto owned in whole or in part by, or furnished or available for regular use of, either you or any resident of your household.
