The Act and its regulations impose certain recordkeeping requirements on employers. The Act sets forth a general requirement to keep records (such as records of work-related deaths, injuries, and illnesses) and defers to the regulations to create specific recordkeeping requirements. 29 U.S.C. § 657(c). OSHA regulations require employers to create and maintain certain records, including, but not limited to:
- injury/illness logs
- medical surveillance documentation (e.g., for lead and asbestos)
