There is no statute that gives a residential landlord a lien on the belongings of a tenant to secure payment of unpaid rent. Section 441.240, RSMo 2000, provides for an attachment for unpaid rent that may be issued by a court in certain circumstances, including the nonpayment of rent that is overdue after demand of it.
