II. (§4.2) Standard Coverages

In understanding what insurance coverage may be available or required for a construction project, the usual starting point for any of its participants is to review the respective contract terms, especially the risks being assumed and the kinds of coverage being required. Because the insurance coverage and limits expected are normally set forth in the contract or an addendum to the contract, the participants’ respective attorneys should advise them to consider all types of risks or perils for which insurance could or should be obtained, bearing in mind that any insurance requirements imposed on any of the participants will add to the overall project costs.
