One of the largest settlements, to date, in Missouri in a sexual misconduct case was $1.6 million in Doe v. Archdiocese of St. Louis, No. 04201168 (Circuit Court of St. Louis City). The plaintiffs, a 12-year-old boy and his parents, alleged that he was sexually abused by Rev. Gary Wolken, who pleaded guilty to related criminal charges. Wolken admitted abusing the boy over a three-year period, starting when the boy was in kindergarten. The priest was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The plaintiffs alleged failure to supervise.
