In response to continuing limitations placed on damage awards by the legislature, innovation among members of the plaintiffs’ bar has resulted in the now generally accepted measure of damages known as hedonic damages or loss of enjoyment of life. These damages are distinct from pain and suffering, and they focus on the plaintiff’s loss of enjoyment of general life activities, familial interaction, hobbies, and similar benefits.
