Banks and other financial institutions are the most common and the most obvious sources of funding for Brownfields redevelopment projects. But the fear of liability is often a deal killer for a bank. This lack of funding from the traditional source of financing for businesses has contributed to the overall disinvestment in urban properties that either are, or very well may be, contaminated. Despite a number of efforts to satisfy lending institutions’ concerns, obtaining a loan is often impossible.
