Section 36 Liability of Endorser

[I]f an instrument is dishonored, an endorser is obliged to pay the amount due on the instrument[:]
(i) according to the terms of the instrument at the time it was endorsed, or
(ii) if the endorser endorsed an incomplete instrument, according to its terms when completed, to the extent stated in Sections 400.3-115[, RSMo 2000, regarding incomplete instruments] and 400.3-407[, RSMo 2000, regarding altered instruments].
