The prejudgment interest statute, § 408.020, RSMo 2000, applies to insurance companies generally. Schultz v. Queen Ins. Co., 399 S.W.2d 230, 236 (Mo. App. E.D. 1965). But prejudgment interest is only awardable on liquidated claims and, to be liquidated so as to allow interest, a claim must be fixed and determined or readily determinable. Watters v.
