When it is alleged that a juvenile has committed an offense that would be a felony if committed by an adult, “the court may, upon its own motion or upon motion by the juvenile officer, the child or the child’s custodian, order a hearing.” Section 211.071.1, RSMo Supp. 2010. After the hearing, the court may, in its discretion, dismiss the petition and transfer the juvenile to be prosecuted under the general law. Id.
