§ 3.8.6 Commercial General Liability Insurance

Lurking behind the ELR, to some extent, is the specter of insurance. Manufacturers can insure themselves against liability arising from damage that their products may cause to person or property and distribute the cost of the coverage among the public as a cost of doing business. Manufacturers cannot as easily, if at all, insure themselves against disappointed commercial expectations.
