4. (§3.7) Contingent Claims

Generally, unliquidated contingent claims and unliquidated tort claims are not subject to garnishment. Stevenson v. McFarland, 62 S.W. 695 (Mo. 1901); State ex rel. Gov't Employees Ins. Co. v. Lasky, 454 S.W.2d 942 (Mo. App. E.D. 1970). Once liquidated, however, the proceeds of these claims are subject to garnishment.
