§ 3.7.4 Professional Services on Federal or Tribal Projects
Questions frequently arise about whether a design professional providing services for a federal or tribal project located within Arizona’s borders must be registered with the Board of Technical Registration. Under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), federal agencies are almost always required to hire registered or licensed design professionals when “design or review and approval of design” is required for federal projects built within a U.S. state or territory.18 Land surveyors are also subject to this registration requirement for federal projects.19 However, this FAR contract clause does not require that the design professional be registered in the same jurisdiction in which the project will be built.
