In a proceeding involving alleged acts committed by a juvenile in violation of a state statute or municipal ordinance, the court may not receive into evidence any admissions or confessions made by a juvenile unless there is a showing that they have been knowingly and voluntarily given. The burden to prove that the juvenile’s confession or admission was voluntary rests on the party seeking
the introduction of the statement, which is generally the state.
