5. (§27.26) Concurrent Proceedings
Except in emergency situations, if, at the time that a custody proceeding is filed in Missouri, there is already a custody proceeding pending in a court of another state having jurisdiction, the Missouri court is prohibited from exercising its jurisdiction unless the other proceeding is terminated or is stayed by the court of the other state because a court of this state is a more convenient forum. Sections 452.755 and 452.765, RSMo Supp. 2011.
