A relatively easy way the general public can influence rulemaking is through the notice and comment procedure in the Missouri Register, described in §§2.10–2.19 above. At this early stage in the process when the agency has sent out its proposal for comment, a simple letter to the agency may influence it to change the wording or even rescind the proposal.
