2. (§25.42) Contest to Registration

A nonregistering party seeking to contest the validity or enforcement of a registered order must request a hearing within 20 days after the date of mailing or personal service of notice of the registration. Section 454.961(a), RSMo Supp. 2011. The registering tribunal must then give notice of the hearing to the parties. Section 454.961(c). In contesting a registered order, the nonregistering party may seek to vacate the registration, to assert a defense to an allegation of noncompliance with the order, or to contest the remedies being sought or the amount of any alleged arrearages. Section 454.961(a).
