C. (§25.12) Duty of Support and Type of Orders That May Be Established

UIFSA defines “[d]uty of support” as “an obligation imposed or imposable by law to provide support for a child, spouse, or former spouse . . . .” Section 454.850(3), RSMo Supp. 2011. “This broad definition includes both prospective and retrospective obligations.” UIFSA 1996 § 101 cmt.

While URESA was silent on the definition of support, UIFSA defines the term broadly to include:

monetary support;

health care;

arrearages;

reimbursements;
