1. (§21.9) In General

In the trial or settlement of dissolution cases, many attorneys will find an expert helpful in establishing the value of property to be divided. Whether the issue is the value of a closely held business, a vacation home, or the earning capacity of a stay-at-home parent, expert testimony can be crucial in this area. Unfortunately, the accountant to whom counsel has referred clients in the past for bookkeeping and tax return preparation may not be the best choice.
