B. (§20.9) Preparing the Defendant and Defense Witnesses for Trial
The concept of streamlining the issues is discussed in §20.8 above. The practical application of that concept involves spending sufficient time in trial preparation with the witnesses so that they understand the hazards of opening areas that can have a negative effect on the jury. The witnesses must be given a clear understanding of exactly what issues are hoped to be resolved with their testimony.
