B. (§20.88) Offers of Proof

Offers of proof are the only way to preserve a trial court’s error of refusing to allow certain testimony or evidence into the record. Karashin v. Haggard Hauling & Rigging, Inc., 653 S.W.2d 203, 205 (Mo. banc 1983). An offer of proof needs to contain sufficient detail and description so that an appellate court can ascertain the substance and relevance of the proposed evidence or testimony. Hawkinson Tread Tire Serv. Co. v. Walker, 715 S.W.2d 335, 337 (Mo. App. E.D. 1986).
