B. (§2.22) Examination Under Federal Rule of Bankruptcy Procedure 2004

Unlike a deposition, an examination under Federal Rule of Bankruptcy Procedure 2004 must be authorized by a court order obtained by a motion. This rule empowers the bankruptcy court to order the examination of any entity upon the motion of a party in interest. An entity may be compelled to attend for the purposes of examination and for production of documents. The court, for cause, may order the debtor to be examined at any time or place.
