Once a record is made of the parties present at the hearing, the court should inform the parties of the substance or nature of the charges contained in the petition. The basic purpose of a petition filed in the juvenile court is to state the facts that bring the child within the court’s jurisdiction. Richardson v. State, 555 S.W.2d 83 (Mo. App. W.D. 1977).
