A. (§19.14) Supreme Court Rules

The scope of examination by interrogatories is set by Rule 56.01 and is generally the same as for other methods of discovery. Accordingly, interrogatories cannot be used to obtain information protected by a privilege such as the physician-patient privilege. But the scope of examination by interrogatories does vary from other forms of discovery in that:

· interrogatories are the exclusive method of requiring a party to disclose the identity of experts expected to be called at trial and the general subject matter on which they are expected to testify, Rule 56.01(b)(4)(a); and
