K. (§18.27) Statutory Multiple Damages
Several Missouri statutes authorize multiple damages for injuries to or destruction of personal property, including the following:
· Sections 537.280 and 537.290, RSMo 2000, require a railroad to pay double damages for injury to livestock if the railroad does not pay an agreed-upon amount within 40 days.
