The SSA obtains consultative examinations when necessary information is not readily available from the records from the claimant's medical sources. 20 C.F.R. §§ 404.1512(f) and 416.912(f). A claimant's treating source is the "preferred source" to perform consultative examinations. 20 C.F.R. §§ 404.1519h and 416.919h. A treating source is:
