A. (§17.2) Nature and Elements

"‘Conversion is the unauthorized assumption of the right of ownership over the personal property of another to the exclusion of the owner’s rights.’" Amond v. Ron York & Sons Towing, 302 S.W.3d 708, 712 (Mo. App. E.D. 2009) (quoting Bell v. Lafont Auto Sales, 85 S.W.3d 50, 54 (Mo. App. S.D. 2002)). In general, "‘conversion is any distinct act of dominion wrongfully exerted over one’s property, in denial of his right or inconsistent with it.’" Carter v. White, 241 S.W.3d 357, 362 (Mo. App. S.D. 2007) (quoting In re Estate of Boatright, 88 S.W.3d 500, 506 (Mo. App. S.D. 2002)).
